ロシアで隕石が落下と言うニュースが報じられている。隕石が落ちるのは日常的なことだが、それによって負傷者が出るというのはあまり聞いたことがない。かなり巨大な隕石が大気圏へ突入したのでは。

これで思い出すのが今日15日に地球へ再接近する小惑星のことだ。一般のニュースではほとんど見ないが、観測史上最も地球に接近する星と言うことらしい。どうやら間違っても地球に落下することは無いらしいが、多くの宇宙のがらくたが地球に向かって飛んでいるようだ。

接近するといっても大気圏外の話、彗星のように見えるわけでもなし、一般の関心がないのは当たり前だろう。下手にニュースとして流すと地球に衝突するのではと不安をあおるのが目的になってしまう。
